Lancer grad hailed among province’s top female scholar-athletes

UWindsor kinesiology grad Erika Reiser (BHK 2011) is one of 19 top female scholar-athletes from across the province to be honoured as a “Woman of Influence” by Ontario University Athletics at a luncheon May 8 in Huntsville.

The event honours female student-athletes who have excelled in their chosen sports and fields of study.

It’s the latest in a series of honours for the former Lancer pole vaulter, now studying medicine at the University of Toronto. In September 2011, Canadian University Sport named her to its Academic Top 8; she captured the 2011 DeMarco Trophy as the Lancers’ top female student-athlete; and received the President’s Medal at the 2011 convocation as the University of Windsor’s top overall student in terms of academic achievement and contribution to community.

A four-time Academic All-Canadian and member of the Dean’s Honour List, Reiser won four medals at the Ontario University Athletics championship and three at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport, including provincial gold and national silver medals in 2011, leading the Windsor women to the OUA and CIS team banners.
