University throws open its doors to prospective students

Sunny skies provided an appropriate greeting Friday to guests visiting campus for the University’s Spring Open House.

“Another year of great weather,” said organizer Zora Savic of the student recruitment office. “It was a beautiful day and I think students and their families enjoyed some Windsor hospitality.”

Jeremie Myers plans to study kinesiology in preparation for a career in physiotherapy. His family drove in Friday from Thamesville for his first visit to campus, and as he completed his check-in, his agenda was full.

“I want to go to the HK presentation, learn about scholarships, tour the athletics facilities and maybe check out the residences,” Myers said. “And maybe also go hear the biology presentation.”

Savic said hundreds of visitors took tours, walked through the information fair for literature about services, and met with faculty and program advisors.

“One of the advantages of the spring event is that as the students get closer to beginning their studies, they are able to get valuable one-on-one time with professors,” she said. “I kept hearing all day how much people on both sides appreciated that.”
