Open house a chance to learn about part-time university study

It’s never too late to pursue a goal, says Anthony Meloche. After he entered the workforce with a diploma in marketing, he wanted to continue his education, but wasn’t able to right away.

“My passion for learning was re-ignited about 15 years ago, when I started working in a training and development position,” he recalls.

With a family and a full-time job, he began part-time studies, has earned a BA in liberal and professional studies and is nearing his ultimate goal of a master’s degree in education—just two courses away.

“Returning to school to start something new or to finish a degree is possible right here at the University of Windsor,” says Meloche. “I encourage anyone considering pursuing a degree to make a call or pay a visit to the University of Windsor. It may reenergize you and inspire you—meeting with an advisor did just that for me.”

Vice-president of the Organization of Part-time University Students, he is helping to organize an open house to provide information and recruit for part-time studies.

“We initiated this event to let people in Windsor and surrounding communities know there are opportunities right here locally to study and obtain a degree while you balance your work, family and other important aspects of your life,” Meloche says. “There are many courses offered to part-time students during the day, evening and by distance. We felt that we needed to get the word out that obtaining a university degree part-time is doable, can help in making people more marketable, and is available right here at the University of Windsor.”
