Benefit dinner to support local refugee resettlement

A dinner March 31 hosted by campus groups will raise funds in support of refugees from Syria relocating to Windsor-Essex.

The student club Project Syria, the local committee of World University Service of Canada, and the UWindsor chapter of the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers have teamed up for the benefit, which aims to attract 500 diners to sponsor the families of Deaa Sham and Tamam Yasin. The two came to the University last year through the student refugee program.

The event promises speakers and live entertainment as well as dinner. Tickets are $65, with a student rate of $50; order them online or e-mail organizer Imad Alame at alamei@uwindsor.ca.
