Symposium to foster leadership in next generation

The Odette School of Business expects to draw 400 participants — including students, alumni, and business leaders — to the sixth Georgie-Odette Leadership Symposium 2017 on Thursday, November 16.

The symposium features keynote speakers:

  • Stephen Carlisle, president of GM Canada;
  • Maureen Jensen, chief executive officer of the Ontario Securities Commission;
  • Jennifer Keesmaat, former chief planner and executive director of the City of Toronto; and
  • Dana Sinclair, a registered psychologist who serves as a consultant for many business organizations and professional sport franchises, including the NFL’s Detroit Lions, MLB’s Los Angeles Dodgers, the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks and Calgary Flames, and the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers.

They will share their leadership journeys and provide practical advice for students and business professionals about how they might realize their leadership aspirations.

The title sponsors of the symposium are brothers and Odette alumni Vincent Georgie (MBA 2004) and Trevor Georgie (MBA 2011).

“Bud and Ed Odette built Eastern Construction as a team,” said Dr. Vincent Georgie, director of the UWindsor School of Creative Arts. “They shared their success with the generations of students at the Odette School of Business who will benefit from their generous spirit for years to come.  My brother and I recognize the importance of giving back to the Odette School of Business and the University of Windsor and we encourage others to do the same.”
