Post-modern sci-fi feature set for wide release

UWindsor film professors Michael Stasko and Theodore Bezaire welcomed a deal that will see their movie The Control distributed by Freestyle Digital Media.

Stasko and Bezaire produced the work with Eric Schiller; Schiller and Stasko also wrote, directed, and star in the film, which will be available starting May 26 to rent and own on DVD, and on North American digital internet, cable, and satellite platforms.

“We are very pleased to have The Control acquired by Freestyle Digital Media,” Stasko said. “It is exciting to have our movie available to a large North American audience. We aimed to make a film that would season from multiple viewings and are excited to share it across multiple platforms.”

The story centres on the clashing ambitions of a brilliant programmer and an unorthodox neurochemist who collaborate on a project to develop a computer-brain interface to preserve the safety and sanity of intrepid colonizers hibernating for a trip to a distant galaxy.
