Teaching and learning features coming to Teams

In support of continued remote teaching and learning requirements from universities and colleges, Microsoft will release additional features for Teams in the coming weeks:

  • Large Gallery View Just like in a physical classroom, students and educators will see up to 49 attendees in a 7×7 class meeting view.
  • Breakout Rooms Instead of trying to work with the whole class, instructors will be able to create virtual breakout rooms so students can work within their smaller groups on a discussion or assignment, then easily be called back to the larger group.
  • Meeting Attendance Download attendance sheets during and after meetings.
  • Together Mode Create a virtual classroom to better engage with attendees during meetings or lessons.

“Teams is continuing to adapt and change to what educators need,” says Marcin Pulcer, assistant director, client services, Information Technology Services. “At the same time, it is the safest option available to our campus community members and the only collaboration tool for which support is provided by the University.”
