Deslyn Tracey’s essay “Privileges and Consequences Awarded to Female Bodies and its Effects on Society,” written for professor Pauline Phipps’ course Frameworks for Feminist Research, won the 2021 Women’s and Gender Studies Paper Prize, the selection committee announced last week.

Also earning recognition were distinguished alumni award winners Allison Cadwallader (BA 2016 in psychology and women’s and gender studies) and Justine Danford (BSW 2009 in social work and women’s studies).

Cadwallader applies her education as a human rights consultant for the City of Toronto. Her work with the Bystander Initiative while a student led to advocacy in support of survivors of sexual violence.

Danford is a youth programming worker facilitating a Gay-Straight Alliance. She continues to make the personal political by incorporating feminism into everyday situations.
