Lancers celebrate record number of Academic All-Canadians

A record 188 UWindsor student-athletes earned Academic All-Canadian status this year, achieving a minimum grade-point average of 80 per cent in full-time study while competing in varsity athletics.

The athletics department and interim provost Patti Weir held a virtual recognition event Wednesday to honour those selected.

“Your dedication to both your study and your athletic pursuits does not go unnoticed by the University,” Dr. Weir said in a video tribute to the honorees.

She cited teamwork, time management, commitment, selflessness, and a sense of shared values as professional development lessons Lancers draw upon.

“It appears to me that all of these things contributed to your success,” said Weir.

Besides 164 Lancers in U Sports-sanctioned competition, the total of 188 includes 12 members of baseball and golf teams recognized by Ontario University Athletics, and 12 players from the fastpitch club team. Find a full list of the honorees at goLancers.ca.
