Workshop to provide tools to talk about race

Courageous Conversations is back with a new set of mini seminars May 3 and 4.

Courageous Conversations: The Exploration is an interactive workshop broken up into three seminars over two days that provides organizations with a set of tools to talk about race, intentionally and effectively.

The Courageous Conversation™ Protocol is designed specifically to help engage, sustain, and deepen intra- and interracial dialogues. Together, these tools help to create a space that is authentic, safe, and generative for conversations that are insightful and compassionate.

Courageous Conversations: The Exploration follows on the heels of the positively received Courageous Conversations: The Experience but does not require previous participation since the Courageous Conversations workshops are stand-alone.

Domonic Rollins will once again facilitate the workshop, which promises to deliver a foundation for the pursuit of systemic change through a lens of racial equity.

Rollins, who also served as the inaugural senior diversity and inclusion officer at Harvard Graduate School of Education, will guide an examination of the impact of race in our lives and fosters the development of an essential literacy and competence through which to experience personal, professional, and organizational ways of being.

The workshop, delivered via Zoom, will be divided over two days into three 1.5-hour segments with two 1-hour breaks (Tuesday 9:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3:30 p.m., and Wednesday 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) to facilitate participation.

It is presented by the Centre for Teaching and Learning, in collaboration with the Office of Human Rights Equity and Accessibility and the Windsor University Faculty Association.
