Dean of Education renewed for additional five years

Interim provost Patti Weir announced Thursday the renewal of Ken Montgomery to a second five-year term as dean of the Faculty of Education, effective July 1.

Ken MontgomerySince his 2017 arrival to UWindsor from the University of Regina, Dr. Montgomery has overseen substantial enrolment growth in both the graduate and teacher education programs, the hiring of eight full-time faculty members, the return of continuing teacher education programs to the Faculty of Education, and the development of UWindsor’s online M.Ed. program (pre-pandemic). During his first term as dean, the Faculty of Education also established the annual Faculty of Education Graduate Research Conference, hosted two major international conferences, and put in place research stimulus funding focused on scholarship and creative activity pertaining to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

In addition to navigating the challenges posed by the pandemic during his first term, the Faculty of Education has also introduced new B.Ed. courses in mental health and media arts, established new concurrent B.Ed. programs — in modern languages with second language education, in political science, and in communication, media, film — expanded admission pathways for technological studies programs, and broadened the base of experiential learning opportunities available to B.Ed. students.
