Video stories to celebrate achievements by faculty of Asian background

A project headed by education professor Shijing Xu and doctoral student Chenkai Chi is seeking video clips, photos, and artifacts from faculty members of Asian background representing the milestones and achievements of their work.

“Celebrating Asian Heritage: Re-Membering and Re-Storying the ‘Hidden Pandemic’ of Anti-Asian Racism” seeks to advance the University of Windsor’s Diversity, Indigeneity, and Anti-Racism professional development by:

  • celebrating Asian Heritage Month in May 2023 in accordance with the Government of Canada’s initiatives;
  • bringing forward contributions made by Asian Canadian faculty members as a way to combat anti-Asian racism;
  • providing opportunities through the exemplars provided for immigrants and international students to develop a better sense of belonging in the university and surrounding communities; and
  • supporting the building of a sustainable equity, diversity, and inclusion infrastructure for research and teaching at the University of Windsor.

The project team will work with respondents to make short videos of three minutes each showcasing their contributions to the local and international communities.
