Men’s hockey headlines weekend varsity action

The 7-1-0 record of Lancer men’s hockey has the team ranked seventh in U Sports; fans will have a chance to catch the squad in action in a pair of home games this weekend against the Western Mustangs.

The puck will drop at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11 and 12, at the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex.

Volleyball will take to the Toldo Lancer Centre to host the Trent Excalibur for double-header matches Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 12 and 13. The women play at 2 p.m. and the men at 4 p.m. both days.

Away from home, women’s hockey will face off Friday against the Gryphons in Guelph and Saturday against the Brock Badgers in St. Catharines.

Lancer basketball will take on the Waterloo Warriors in a double-header Saturday.

OUA.tv will livestream all these contests.

Cross country will compete in the U Sports championships Saturday in Halifax. The meet will be broadcast by CBC on its Gem, Sports.ca, sports app, and YouTube outlets.

OUA all-stars

Ontario University Athletics named Lancer football defensive line coach Mike Circelli its football volunteer coach of the year, special teams player Brad Lidster an all-rookie, and linemen Muftah Ageli and Zack Benson second-team all-stars.

All-star honours also went to Devin Hernandez of men’s soccer and women’s soccer players Kat Campana, Lauren Gellner, Grace Melick, and Kailyn Robertson.
