Environmental engineering Master’s student Taylor Purdy was honoured Friday at Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital for her efforts to help the hospital significantly reduce its environmental footprint and save thousands of dollars in annual operating costs.

Spending a day in the Centre for Engineering Innovation helped convince Dilshan Pieris that the subject could be fun.
“We crash-tested crumple zones for some remote control trucks and built bridges out of popsicle sticks,” he said. “Engineering is more interesting after today!”
Pieris was one of about 100 grade 11 students of academic and enriched science at Vincent Massey Secondary School to participate in the all-day experience Friday, May 25.

The Faculty of Engineering will host an open house to welcome prospective students and their parents on Thursday, January 5.
Assistant dean Edwin Tam and a panel of past and present students will discuss the five academic programs, the new Centre for Engineering Innovation, and opportunities for scholarships and work experience.
High school students in attendance can enter a draw for $500 towards tuition at Windsor engineering.
It all begins at 6 p.m. at the University of Windsor / Chrysler Canada Automotive Research & Development Centre, 3939 Rhodes Drive.
