#2012-13-01 Audio Visual Technician (MEB) tentative ‘V’ in the Centre for Teaching and Learning

Reporting to the Manager of Educational Technologies, the incumbent will split their duties between a) the Medical Education Building, and b) other classrooms containing built-in multimedia equipment for which the Centre for Teaching and Learning is responsible. The objectives of the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) are to provide both the expertise and the technology for effective media presentation in classrooms. Therefore, in order to enable the Centre to achieve these goals, the incumbent, in co-operation and conjunction with other CTL audio-visual technicians, is accountable for the operation, coordination, diagnostics, maintenance, and provide input to redesigns of professional quality audiovisual and videoconferencing equipment. The candidate will have successfully completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering or completion of Engineering Technologist Program or equivalent post-secondary with relevant experience. The position also requires a candidate with a minimum two (2) years of experience in similar role with a school system or industry with experience with Win9x/2000/XP/Vista and MS Office (97, 200*, XP), strong organization, verbal and written communication skills, the demonstrable ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimum supervision and experienced service technician in areas of television, photo products and audio visual equipment.

The Head Secretary contributes to the smooth and efficient operation of the Department of Physics by providing secretarial and administrative support to the Department Head and providing support services to faculty, staff and students who instruct in the University and the laboratories. The Head Secretary acts independently and with initiative to solve problems and anticipate both the Head and Department’s routine requirements.Essential qualifications include Typing 50 NWPM; experience in all aspects of the administrative functions of an academic department, including departmental budgets, faculty appointments, full time and sessional; experience in PTR; ability to work independently and work well with others; knowledge of administrative procedures of the University.
