In donating to the Annual Giving Program, UWindsor employees and retirees do more than support the specific causes most dear to them, says campaign chair Bruce Tucker. This year, they have made a concrete impact on campus beautification.
A reception May 24 to recognize participating donors will also mark the formal dedication of a garden bed that spells out the university’s appreciation.
“Each of the flowers in the garden represents a faculty or staff member who committed to student success by contributing to the 2011/12 Annual Giving Program,” says Dr. Tucker, associate vice-president, academic. “We’re so grateful for their efforts to nurture the growth of the University and our students.”
Donors will receive invitations to the reception through the campus mail system. Tucker wants invitees to hang on to the print pieces, designed by the Office of Public Affairs and Communications.
“The invitations take the form of an envelope which contain marigold seeds,” he says. “We hope recipients will plant the seeds as a reminder of the university. Marigolds are fairly easy to grow and they repel pests!”
The reception is set for 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 24, outside the front entrance to Leddy Library – rain or shine. To hold your spot, RSVP by May 17 to Mona Dosen at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 519-253-3000, ext. 4279.
