Deadline approaching for employment equity census

Friday, December 6, marks the deadline for UWindsor employees to return the employment equity census.

The questionnaire identifies the representation and distribution of members of the designated groups throughout all levels of the University. In accordance with the Employment Equity Act, the four designated groups are women, people with disabilities, Aboriginal people and visible minorities; the University also recognizes sexual minorities as a fifth designated group.

The information gained from the census will support the University in creating fair and equitable employment policies and practices, says Dion Carter, manager of equity and human rights.

“The purpose of employment equity is to ensure that no person is denied employment opportunities and benefits for reasons unrelated to ability,” he says.

The census requires two to three minutes to complete and all responses are confidential. The information respondents provide will not be included in their personnel files. To protect employee privacy, the data will be reported in an aggregate, summarized format that does not identify individuals. While responding to the census is voluntary, returning the census form is mandatory. Should you not wish to complete this census, please check the box at the bottom of the census page.
