BioArtist to discuss work at intersection of science and art

A UWindsor professor will discuss her work in the emerging field of BioArt in a free public presentation at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 13, at the Artcite gallery.

Jennifer Willet is the director of the Incubator: Hybrid Laboratory at the Intersection of Art, Science and Ecology Project in the School for Arts and Creative Innovation. Her exhibition “Natural Science,” continues at Artcite through March 1.

Willet presents an “un-natural history collection”—items, life forms, images, and stories resulting from the BioARTCAMP project, which brought together 20 artists, scientists, filmmakers, theorists and students for a research experiment in the Canadian Rockies.

“These objects, in tandem with photographic, video, and archival documentation of the camp, attempt to recount the BioARTCAMP experience and serve to re-imagine the role of biotechnology in our shared natural history,” says Dr. Willet.

Artcite is located at 109 University Avenue West.
