UWindsor students and alumni answer Carmen’s call

When the Windsor Symphony Orchestra mounts Saturday’s sold-out performance of “Carmen in Concert,” based on the opera by Georges Bizet, it will have plenty of UWindsor representation on the Capitol Theatre stage.

The show will be among the largest the WSO has produced, with eight soloists singing various roles from the opera and the combined forces of the Windsor Classic Choral, the University of Windsor Chamber Choir and the University of Windsor Singers.

Among the soloists are UWindsor music alumni Naomi Eberhard (BMus 2007) as Frasquita and Christine Turingia (BMus 2007) as Mercédès.

Carmen is one of the most performed operas in the world, the subject of more than 70 films, with its music finding its way into everything from the children’s television program Sesame Street to the video game Tetris. Learn more on the orchestra’s website.
