Presentation offers strategies to resolve bullying and workplace conflicts

Bullying a problem in healthcare, says Renee Thompson.

“It’s pervasive, destructive, and negatively impacts individuals, the nursing profession, the workplace, and ultimately the patients,” she says. “Relationships and our ability to provide high quality, safe patient care suffers.”

Dr. Thompson will offer solutions at a presentation June 4 entitled “Do no harm applies to nurses too: Strategies to eliminate bullying and resolve conflict in the workplace.” The dinner event is designed for nurses, students, educators, healthcare professionals and employers, but is open to all.

In addition to 23 years’ experience as a nurse, Thompson is president of RT Connections, which educates, connects and inspires current and future nurses. Her presentation will teach participants how to recognize and eliminate bullying behaviour, resolve conflict, and create nurturing and supportive work environments where nurses and patients thrive.

The UWindsor Faculty of Nursing is a sponsor of the dinner event, June 4 at the St. Clair College Centre for the Arts. Tickets are $65 per person or $625 for a table of 10, available until May 25 uwindsor.ca/nursing/ticket-purchase.
