Festival to bring science up close and personal

More than 20 activities will highlight various facets of knowledge and discovery Saturday, May 10, during Science Rendezvous, a free public festival on the UWindsor campus.

“People of all ages are invited to engage with science by observing, doing or creating,” says physics professor Chitra Rangan, faculty advisor to the student-run organizing committee. “Folks can discover cutting‐edge cancer research, enjoy art based on science, watch physics demonstrations, enjoy the Chemistry Magic Show—there is something for everyone!”

The interactive displays range from biotechnology as participants solve mysteries using DNA, to astronomy and neuroscience. Local high school students will show off their Frisbee-playing robots and everyone can compete for prizes in an “Amazing Science Chase.” UWindsor students will perform the Chemistry Magic Show at 10 a.m. and the Phunky Physics Show at 1 p.m.

All activities are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Education Gym, located between the CAW Student Centre and the University Computer Centre. Find a complete schedule on the Science Rendezvous Windsor website.
