Grad and professional schools fair opens today

Organizers have high hopes for the ninth annual Graduate and Professional Schools Fair, today and tomorrow in the Commons area of the CAW Student Centre.

Forty-four different institutions will be highlighted during the event, presented by the Student Success Centre and the Faculty of Graduate Studies on October 7 and 8.

“This year’s fair should be very successful,” says career development coordinator Yvonne Currie. “We have a wide range of opportunities for students to explore, from graduate studies in almost all fields including medicine, law, massage therapy, pharmacy, chiropractic, education, post graduate college programs, studying abroad and more.”

The fair is held every October as an opportunity for representatives from Canadian and international educational institutes to promote their graduate programs, post-graduate certificate programs and professional schools.

Institutions of business, law and graduate studies will be featured on Tuesday, October 7, and institutions of medicine, health, education and colleges will be highlighted on Wednesday, October 8. Both days will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Institutions are not limited to the days specified for their programs, and several will be available to students both days.

The fair will provide more information about educational opportunities and programs, requirements for admission and application deadlines. Representatives will be available to answer any questions. Currie encourages students from all year levels and programs to attend.

This is the second year the event will be held over two days, as the number of institutions interested in promoting their programs is rising.
