MFA graduate Venessa Cornell explores how, in the context of value, a paper shopping bag can be more important than it’s contents, in her thesis exhibition, LUXURY, May 6 - 9, SB Contemporary Art.
The exhibition examines Cornell’s ongoing exploration of conspicuous consumption, commodity fetishism, spectacle, and display and desire. Beyond paper shopping bags, Cornell questions what luxury represents and why specific luxury objects hold such cache.
Exhibition hours: Wednesday to Friday, 12 – 5 p.m., Saturday 12 – 4 p.m.
