Political science professor remembered for her warmth and dedication

Political science professor Martha Lee, who passed away on August 1, will be remembered as a distinguished academic, as well as a warm and supportive friend and mentor.

“With Martha Lee's passing, the University has lost an outstanding teacher and researcher, a highly respected contributor to the University and community, and a warm and humane friend,” says Associate Vice-President, Academic Bruce Tucker.

Dr. Tucker says Dr. Lee was always modest and understated about her many achievements, which included cutting edge research on modern right-wing movements; a superb mentor to students;  a passion for teaching; and her extraordinary efforts to support younger faculty in the development of their careers.

“I always appreciated her ability to bring together people from diverse backgrounds to learn from each other,” says Tucker. “Martha was living proof that universities change lives.”

Memorial donations can be made to the Martha Lee Scholarship Fund for Political Science at the UWindsor, department of political science, attention Sandy Van Zetten, at Ext. 2347 or vanzet@uwindsor.ca. Cheques made payable to University of Windsor.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, August 7. Find details in her obituary online.
