Service Improvement to cause website downtime

The Information technology services (ITS) advises the campus community of a scheduled website downtime allowing the migration to the new Web Load Balancer, a service to distribute internet traffic among the servers automatically, Tuesday August 11, from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m.

Affected services will be primarily to hosted websites on campus, including www.uwindsor.ca, CLEW / Blackboard, Myuwindsor Portal, Mobile App, and MySuccess will be unavailable during the downtime.

“The migration comes as part of ITS’ continued investment in upgrading equipment to improve performance, capacity and overall enhance technology capability,” says ITS Assistant Director, Steven Banyai.

In preparation for this event, ITS support staff have been actively consulting with various departmental and faculty stakeholders “to ensure that the migration plan will have minimal disruption to services, which is reflected in the early downtime window,” says Banyai.
