Reception celebrates successes in science

In addition to a successful research program with an exemplary funding record, biology professor Jan Ciborowski is known for his commitment to high-quality teaching, student supervision and mentoring.

This record of achievement won him a lifetime achievement award from the Faculty of Science, presented at its annual Celebration of Success reception, December 4.

Acting dean of science Charles Macdonald called Dr. Ciborowski’s work “invaluable to the University’s reputation and profile among those interested in Great Lakes research and protection.”

The award—made to honour senior members of the faculty who have made significant contributions throughout their careers—capped the recognition event, attended by about 150 faculty, staff and students.

The program noted accomplishments by grad students and instructors in teaching, research and service.

“I am proud that members of the Faculty of Science have once again shown the value that we collectively place on achieving excellence in all that we do,” Dr. Macdonald said.
