Patrons praise powerful play

Audiences exiting the current University Players production have issued high praise, says marketing coordinator Anna Galka.

“The comments we have been gathering extol not only the writing and staging, but the quality of the actors’ work,” she says.

An Experiment with an Air Pump is part detective story, part science play, told in the same house in time frames 200 years apart.

Ann Price is a regular member of the drama department’s audiences. “We always love coming, and we’ll always come back,” she said.

Ali Ross called the company’s work “professional,” adding that during this play, “I was really captivated.”

And Susan Mackenzie made a point of mentioning the performances.

“I was very impressed by the whole ensemble,” Mackenzie said. “My husband and I extremely enjoyed it.”

The play will begin its second weekend in the Essex Hall Theatre on Wednesday, February 3. Wednesday through Saturday performances are at 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. Note: An Experiment with an Air Pump contains language some may find offensive.
