Lancer basketball teams advance to playoff quarter-finals

Both men’s and women’s Lancer basketball squads will play Ontario University Athletics quarter-final games Saturday, March 5.

The men defeated the Laurentian Voyaguers 82-73 Wednesday at the St. Denis Centre to open their post-season. Fifth-year guard Alex Campbell led Windsor with the game’s only double-double at 37 points and 10 rebounds, to go along with four steals and a block. Isiah Osborne, with 18 points, and Tyler Persaud with 12 were the other Lancers to hit double digits.

Next up for the squad is a match-up against the McMaster Marauders in Hamilton. The game will start at 2 p.m. and can be seen live at www.oua.tv.

The Windsor women will head to Ottawa to face the Carleton Ravens after beating the Laurier Golden Hawks 82-76, Wednesday at the St. Denis Centre. All five Lancer starters hit double digits in the victory. Senior guard Emily Prevost led all scorers with a game-high 21 points, while Carly Steer chipped in 17 points. Cheyanne Roger had 15 points to go along with her game-high nine rebounds, Caitlyn Longmuir had 13 points and Kaylee Anagnostopoulos put up 10.
