Music instructor to lend voice to orchestra’s birthday celebration

Jazz singer Shahida Nurullah, a UWindsor voice instructor, will serenade patrons of the Windsor Symphony Orchestra during a gala evening to celebrate the 70th anniversary of its founding, Friday, June 9.

“The Beat Goes On” will also feature performances by Huladog, Green Eyed Soul, Ray Manzerolle, Tino Popovic, and a trio of the orchestra’s musicians, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Capitol Theatre and Arts Centre, 121 University Avenue West. Trombone instructor Mike Stone (BMus 1985) of Huladog and alumnus John Theaker (BMus 1978, B.Ed 1993) of Green Eyed Soul also boast UWindsor connections.

Guests will experience different music and foods in each of the venue’s theatres. Funds raised from the gala birthday celebration will support the orchestra’s community and education outreach programs.
