Updated accessibility handbook provides accommodation guidance to faculty

Advice on how to help students experiencing difficulties is just one of the recent updates to a faculty handbook on accommodating students with disabilities.

The publication is aimed at assisting instructors to provide equitable access to learning, says Christine Quaglia, disability advisor in Student Accessibility Services.

“We have updated our policies and processes and hope to bring the most current information to all our faculty,” she says.

This latest iteration features strategies for determining essential course requirements, resources for Universal Instructional Design, and suggested wording for a syllabus statement informing students about the process for self-identification and accommodation.
