Fundraising dinner aimed at re-opening Can-Am Indian Friendship Centre

A UWindsor student group wants to help a local centre that provides specialized programing for Indigenous people re-open its doors after a devastating flood.

The Social Work Student Association has organized a pasta dinner November 16 to support the Can-Am Indian Friendship Centre.

“The centre has experienced thousands of dollars’ worth of damage that tenant insurance cannot cover,” says association president Kiera Royle. “With its doors shut, many Indigenous community members are left without its invaluable services.”

The dinner will begin at 6 p.m. at the Fogolar Furlan Club, 1800 North Service Road. For the $15 admission, supporters will receive all-you-can-eat pasta, salad, rolls, tea, and coffee. The event will also feature Indigenous speakers, organizations, vendors, and raffles of items from local businesses.
