Speakers to back call for a caring Canada

A UWindsor instructor is one of the featured speakers at a discussion of the Leap Manifesto in the Pitt-Ferry Building on Saturday, November 18.

Rita Haase, who teaches in women’s and gender studies, will present on sustainable agriculture during the free public event, which will run 2 to 4 p.m. and includes Leap co-founder Avi Lewis, Mona Stonefish on Indigenous rights, Klaus Dohring on renewable energy, and Paul Chislett on local co-operative economy.

The manifesto is titled “A call for a Canada based on caring for the earth and one another” and commits to respect for the rights of Aboriginal peoples, sustainably grown food, renewable energy, economic opportunity, racial and gender equality. Learn more on the organization’s website.
