Ooh là là! French toast to feed Giving Tuesday efforts

November 28 isn’t just Giving Tuesday, it’s National French Toast Day, says Sandra Riccio-Muglia, and the CAW Student Centre’s director of programming has found a way to combine the two occasions.

Students who donate pocket change or canned goods will receive a serving of French toast sticks with syrup tomorrow starting at 11 a.m. in the centre’s Commons area.

“What better way to give to students while we receive?” Riccio-Muglia says. “We are hoping to increase awareness that it’s a day to give back to the community by way of a good deed.”

Cash donations will go to the local anti-cancer campaign Grow On Windsor, while contributions of food will fill the shelves at the Campus Food Pantry.

The alumni office has partnered with the Leddy Library on a Giving Tuesday promotion to raise funds for, and awareness of, the UWill Discover Student Research Collaboratory project, which will add meeting and presentation facilities behind the library’s main-floor café.

Student volunteers will staff a table in the Leddy Library lobby from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, discussing the project and distributing coffee and hot chocolate in exchange for a donation and participation in this national philanthropic endeavour.
