Event to toast local cancer research

The Windsor Cancer Research Group (WCRG) is hosting “Cheers to Hope,” a community outreach event to celebrate the strides in local cancer research at UWindsor and Windsor Regional Hospital, on Thursday, May 3.

The evening is an opportunity to mingle and walk through an interactive research showcase that highlights local projects. Attendees will hear a cancer research story told by two researchers and a patient, and tickets will be available for a chance to win a WCRG Night of Discovery.

The event will also recognize major community supporters as the WCRG Ambassadors of Hope.

The event is part of Science on Tap and Science Uncorked, a series of outreach activities to encourage members of the community to come and meet UWindsor researchers and get a glimpse into the campus research.

Tickets are $25 and available online at windsor.snapd.com. The event runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Essex Golf and Country Club, located at 7555 Matchette Road in LaSalle.

Profited proceeds will go to the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation’s “Lock Out Cancer” initiative. For more information, contact wcrg@uwindsor.ca.
