One of Canada’s newest senators will make a public appearance on the UWindsor campus next week to discuss the role of the upper chamber in making policy.
Political science professor Lydia Miljan will open her graduate class to the campus community to hear from Donna Dasko at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, in room 203, Toldo Health Education Centre.
Dr. Dasko is a sociologist, business leader, and one of Canada’s best-known pollsters, formerly senior vice-president of Environics Research Group Ltd. She is a co-founder and former national chair of Equal Voice, a non-partisan organization aimed at electing more women to public office in Canada. In 2015, she co-founded the Campaign for an Equal Senate for Canada, an initiative to promote a gender-equal Senate.
Dasko received an appointment as an independent senator representing Ontario in June 2018. She is currently a senior fellow at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy.
