More appointment slots available to blood donors

As hospitals resume procedures that had been put on hold in the early response to COVID-19, Canadian Blood Services is adding more blood donation appointments to meet patient needs.

“Before, during, and as we recover from the pandemic, every donation matters,” says Marisa Gatfield, the organization’s territory manager for donor relations. “If you’re in general good health, we encourage you to book and honour your appointment to help patients now, this summer, and throughout the year.”

June 8 begins National Blood Donor Week, culminating June 14 in World Blood Donor Day.

In compliance with the public health agencies request to maintain physical distancing, donation is by appointment only at the Windsor donor centre, 3909 Grand Marais Rd. E. Its current hours are:

  • Monday, 3 to 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Friday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Saturday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
