A $300 prize is at stake in a contest for local graduating high school students, inviting their thoughts on the subject “How might religion and spirituality be used to promote peace in the contemporary world?”

The Stephen Jarislowsky Chair in Religion and Conflict at Assumption University invites submissions for the Fr. Paul McGill, CSB Essay Prize. It is open to seniors from high schools in Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, and Sarnia-Lambton.

Essays of between 800 and 1,000 words must be submitted by noon April 1. An adjudication committee will evaluate entries on their strength of argument, clarity, organization, creativity, grammar, and spelling.
