Campus radio station launching annual fundraising drive

The campus community radio station CJAMfm will run its annual fundraising drive for one week, starting Friday, Nov. 19.

The non-profit operation has been broadcasting since 1983, providing music and information programming not offered by mainstream commercial media. It relies upon the financial support of listeners to stay on the air, says station manager Carley Schweitzer.

“With COVID-19 continuing to impact our fundraising efforts in 2020, we saw a significant drop as many regular donors were unable to contribute and we were not able to host in-person concerts and events,” she says. “We’re happy to be back on-track with our student-based programming but we have several important, internal steps to take before we invite live-to-air volunteers back to our space safely.”

Through the pandemic, the station has worked to maintain relationships with programs including Pro-Bono Students Canada of Windsor Law, the School of Nursing’s No Scrubs, and Prevent, Resist, Support by the Sexual Misconduct Response and Prevention Office.

CJAM is offering prizes at different donation levels on its new online store at cjam-merch.square.site/s/shop.

Visit the CJAMfm website for more information on the station, its programming, or ways to contribute.
