Committee expresses appreciation for community engagement in LMS review

The LMS Review Committee extends thanks to everyone who completed a faculty-staff or student survey this fall as part of its Learning Management System (LMS) review. The campus community voice is an essential part of the strategic review, underway due to changes announced by Blackboard for 2023.

The winner of the faculty-staff survey $250 appreciation Amazon gift card was School of Dramatic Art’s Kirsten Watt. Adding a $50 gift card to their holiday shopping were Amal Jammali, Michele Stewart, Scott Wisdom, Blessing Igbokwe, and Scott Cowan.

The winner of the student survey $250 Amazon gift card was integrative biology student Thiranya Weerakoon. Picking up a $50 gift card each were Sibi Subhash, Equra Ekua Sackey, Enoch Vineeth Kumar Bandari, Victoria Ivey, and Brandon Moorcroft.

The survey responses provided valuable information on the key tools, features, functions, and usability that the campus community wants to see in an LMS. This information was vitally important in informing the extensive requirements included in the Request for Proposals (RFP) for an LMS beyond 2023. The RFP is publicly available and open to all vendors, including Blackboard, to respond to by the end of January 2022.

As part of the evaluation process, shortlisted vendors will be asked to provide a sandbox version of their system that will be open to the campus community to test out and provide feedback that will help inform the final decision. More information on ways to provide feedback will be available in the new year.
