Webinars to promote awareness of sexual violence and LGBTQ2S+ issues

Presentations on responding to sexual violence and improving the climate for the LGBTQ2S+ community are the Thursday, March 24, contributions to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Decolonization (EDID) Week.

At 11 a.m., Anne Rudzinski will lead a workshop on “Responding to Disclosures of Sexual Violence.” Sexual violence education specialist in the Office of Sexual Violence Prevention, Resistance, and Support, she will teach how to support someone who discloses an experience of sexual violence. Michael Godfrey, a SSHRC postdoctoral fellow within the Faculty of Science, will share the findings of his recent study in a presentation “Close Doesn’t Count: The Academic Climate for LGBTQ2S+ Students in STEM ” at 1 p.m. Dr. Godfrey will by discuss positive aspects of the climate and highlight key areas for improvement in science, tech, engineering and math — and beyond.
