Facility Services to shut down campus electrical, compressed air and vacuum, heating and cooling services

To comply with Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) requirements, the University is required to upgrade its existing high voltage power line. Facility Services Operations will require an outage of campus electrical, compressed air and vacuum, and heating and cooling services to campus on the weekend of Nov. 19, reports Facility Services.

The electrical outage will disable card access, elevators, lighting, air conditioning, and all power supply and is scheduled for five hours, 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 19. The shutdown will disrupt the main campus buildings, with the exceptions of downtown properties, Great Lakes Institute of Environmental Research (GLIER), Centre for English Language Development (CELD), 2629 Riverside Dr. West, Centre for Automotive Research and Education (CARE), maintenance and grounds.

The compressed air and vacuum outage will affect labs throughout the campus.

The steam outage will also disable hot water and heating and cooling systems. The shutdown will disrupt most campus buildings, with the exceptions of downtown properties, GLIER, CELD, and CARE.
