A report by Workforce WindsorEssex identifies nine promising sectors of the economy projected to experience growth in the local area over the next three to five years.
The April Career Information Brief, published by the Centre for Career Education, explores five of these sectors:
- agriculture
- creative industries
- construction
- education
- health sciences
and suggests employment opportunities for students to consider.

Campus employers hoping to submit job proposals for the 2012 work-study program will see changes in the process, but participating students should experience no difference.
The program funds part-time employment for students demonstrating genuine financial need – generally at no cost to campus employers.
Students apply through the “awards search” on the Student Information System or myUWindsor portal; the Student Awards and Financial Aid office determines their eligibility. The student application and approval process will remain unchanged.
UWindsor students who want to enhance their resumes with a professional and rewarding experience should consider the Centre for Career Education’s Volunteer Internship Program (VIP). The application deadline is November 15 to participate in the Winter 2012 term.
Participants contribute 40 hours of volunteer work in a local non-profit organization and attend career development workshops and activities. In exchange, they get work-related experience, networking opportunities, and recognition on their academic transcripts.
