The Lancer football team secured a 3-0 record to open the season—its best start since 2006—with a 63-4 trouncing of the Warriors in Waterloo on Saturday.
Quarterback Austin Kennedy passed for 141 yards including a touchdown each to Dallas Boow, Mark Carter and Scott McEwen as part of a total 654 yards in offense. Kennedy is just eight touchdown passes away from the Ontario University Athletics career record. Windsor’s rushing leaders included Nigel Applewhaite with 166 yards and two touchdowns, Nick Vincent with 85 yards and two touchdowns, and Beau Lumley with 114 yards.
The Lancer football team was handed its first loss of the year Saturday on Alumni Field, as the McMaster Marauders eked out a narrow 21-19 decision.
The result leaves Windsor in a four-way tie for second place in Ontario University Athletics with McMaster, Ottawa and Toronto. Lancer quarterback Austin Kennedy threw 25 passes for 335 yards and three touchdowns, two to receiver Jordan Brescacin, who finished with eight catches for 111 yards.
