Business leader describes quest for more

Kavaughn Boismier, chief financial officer of WaveDirect Telecommunications and founder of the Women of Windsor Mentorship Collaborative, shared her perspective as a racialized woman in the executive leadership space with faculty, staff, and students of the Odette School of Business last week.

In a presentation titled “Quest for More,” Boismier discussed how her background helped shape who the woman she is today — a finalist for Young Professional of the Year in the 2021 Business Excellence Awards of the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The daughter of a biracial couple, she didn’t think anything of the fact that her skin colour didn’t match her classmates; it didn’t match her mother’s, either, noted Boismier. She recalled that meals came from food banks and Christmas gifts from Sparky’s Toy Drive, but she always found opportunity to “do what I could with what I had.”
