Presentation to promote advance from accessibility to inclusion

Accessibility Awareness Days will come to a close Tuesday, March 30, with an address by leadership coach Dave Dame.

Born in 1971 with cerebral palsy, he acknowledges that changes to accessibility over the years have improved opportunities for him and others to participate in society but notes that accessibility is not enough.

In a presentation entitled “Inclusion has to be Purposeful,” Dame shares his personal story to demonstrate the difference between mere accessibility and meaningful inclusion. It’s the last in a series of five events presented each Tuesday in March by the Office of Human Rights, Equity, and Accessibility (OHREA).

The online keynote address will run 11:30 a.m. to noon, followed by a brief closing ceremony conducted by OHREA executive director Kaye Johnson and accessibility manager Cherie Gagnon.
