#2011-13-28 Research Funding Officer – Institutional Projects and Communications ‘IV’ in the Office of Research Services

The Research Funding Officer – Institutional Projects and Communications is responsible for providing professional advice and guidance as well as a critical level of scrutiny and review in all matters relating to research applications for large and institutional research projects; staying current regarding the policies for government granting agencies; assisting researchers with grant proposal and budget development; coordinating, evaluating and implementing internal application procedures; and acting as a liaison between faculty, finance, senior administration and agency representatives. The incumbent will work with researchers to prepare large and/or complex institutional level proposals for government funding. The incumbent will review text and budget components; prepare comments and tips for improvement; evaluate, and implement internal procedures; and keep current on funding guidelines and future funding opportunities. The foregoing activities will often require working with counterparts at other institutions. A secondary focus for the selected candidate will be to communicate research activities in partnership with the University of Windsor Public Affairs and Communications department. The incumbent will possess a Bachelor's degree in a related field, demonstrable understanding and knowledge of the development of research proposals, and three to five years of technical experience in research development or administration. The incumbent must have demonstrated the ability to work closely with others in the creation of reports, applications or professional documents. The incumbent will have a strong knowledge of related agencies (for example: Tri-Councils, CFI, MRI, CIDA) as well as other analogous government programs. The incumbent will have demonstrated, through past experiences, a strong background in research administration; proven written and oral communication skills; demonstrated public relations skills and interpersonal skills, including the ability work effectively with various individuals and groups across campus. The incumbent will have previous experience planning workshops. The candidate will have effective time management and strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, as well as the ability to work independently, strong commitment to service, highly motivated self-starter with a creative mind and effective relationship building skills. The incumbent will have demonstrated proficiency with computer technology, demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to work under pressure and with multiple and often conflicting deadlines.
