Windsor’s Italian community funds student scholarships

The Canadian Italian Business and Professional Association presented UWindsor president Alan Wildeman with donations totalling $170,000 at its general assembly Tuesday.

The monies will endow two scholarships – the CIBPA Windsor Scholarship Fund and the CIBPA Dr. Sergio Marchionne Scholarship Fund each received $25,000. The remaining $120,000 went to the Italian Studies Legecy Fund to support efforts to create a chair in Italian studies.

The donations represent the proceeds of a dinner earlier this year featuring UWindsor alumnus Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Fiat S.p.A. and Chrysler Group LLC.
