STEPS getting closer to students

The Educational Development Centre is bringing its workshops across campus in an effort to reach students.

The Skills to Enhance Personal Success (STEPS) program offers 10 different workshops to help students develop the skills needed to succeed at the university. This semester, besides the traditional 50-minute long sessions in Dillon Hall, the program will offer shorter sessions in buildings around campus.

“We understand students have a busy schedule so we have created shorter information sessions for them around campus,” says coordinator Laura Prada. “These are only 30 minutes long and they are free for all students.”

STEPS workshops offer information on topics from memorizing strategies and time management to exam preparation and academic writing style.

“It is a friendly and safe environment where students are invited to ask questions and share their experiences as well as their struggles,” Prada says.

Students can book one-on-one appointments with the STEPS coordinators by purchasing a $15 membership that will also allow them to attend all the complete sessions. Walk-ins are welcome for all 50 minute-long sessions at $5 per session.
