Roundtable to give students insight into health professions

A Health Professional Round Table will give students a chance to consider related careers, Wednesday, April 4, on the University of Windsor campus.

Attendees will hear presentations from individuals working in fields as varied as surgery, family practice, occupational and physiotherapy, dentistry, patient advocacy, nursing, dietetics—and more—discussing their professions and the paths that led them there. Following the formal program, a reception will give students an opportunity to network with and ask questions of the presenters.

“We’re hoping that this will expose students to healthcare professions that they might not know about, but that are very important to our healthcare system,” says David Mikhail, a third-year medical student at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry – Windsor Program.

He said he also hopes the event will encourage students to become involved in the sponsoring organization, the Windsor Interprofessional Health Council.

The event starts at 5 p.m. in the CAW Student Centre’s Ambassador Auditorium. Space is limited, so tickets will be sold at $5 per person. However, attendees may choose to receive a refund of the admission price or donate it to the John McGivney Children’s Centre.
