Graduate Students’ Society celebrates achievements

More than 30 students received scholarship awards in recognition of their academic accomplishments and community involvement at the Graduate Students’ Society dinner on Tuesday, April 17.

The event also marked the transition to the society’s newly elected 2012/13 executive:

  • President Kannappan Thiagarajan
  • Vice-president academic affairs Stephan Pigeon
  • Vice-president finance, operations and human resources Mohamed Gamal El Sayed
  • Vice-president university affairs Rajan Ray

The society honoured financial aid assistant Brenda Schreiber as staff member of the year and recognized councillors Marc Frey and Sonia Sulaiman for their commitment to the GSS. Antonio Verbora received a GEM award from vice-provost students and international Clayton Smith for Going the Extra Mile to serve students.

In addition, the society announced a new scholarship it will endow in cooperation with the University of Windsor Alumni Association, and progress on an agreement with the University administration in securing a new space for GSS offices.
